USAID: Building Resilience in Nepal
This video explores USAID’s BHAKARI Program, a Multi-Year Emergency (MYE) initiative designed to strengthen food security and disaster resilience in Nepal’s Karnali Province, one of the country’s most marginalized and climate-vulnerable regions. Unlike traditional short-term aid models, MYE programming allowed USAID and Mercy Corps to implement long-term preparedness strategies while addressing immediate humanitarian needs.
A key success of the program was its community-led approach, using the Integrated Community Assessment and Action Planning (ICAAP) tool to engage with 252 communities and tailor interventions based on their evolving needs. This led to adaptive response strategies, such as shock-responsive social protection, value voucher distributions, and pre-positioning relief supplies, ensuring faster and more effective crisis response.
As Producer and Video Editor, I crafted a compelling visual narrative that highlights the impact of USAID’s work. Through strategic storytelling, dynamic editing, and engaging visuals, this video showcases how localized, data-driven approaches can build long-term resilience in vulnerable communities.
